The Power of Body Awareness

Subtitle / Short Description:
An 8-minute guided body awareness practice using gentle squeeze-and-release movements to bring attention out of the thinking mind and into the body, supporting relaxation, presence and restful sleep.

Your body is receiving information from the world through you.

Long before the thinking mind has created a story about an experience, the nervous system and sensory systems and broader field of sensory perception, are already responding to signals: sound, movement, temperature, pressure, internal sensation, another person's presence, changes in the environment and countless other cues.

Much of this information never reaches conscious awareness. Filtered by the patterns of pre-condition.

Body awareness invites us to widen the field of what we can notice.

Instead of experiencing life predominantly through thought, we begin bringing awareness back to the whole organism — the breath, muscles, skin, heartbeat, sensations, subtle shifts and movements occurring within us. What awakens is what we could describe as gut feeling, intuitive knowing.

The body becomes more than something we carry around. It becomes an information receiver we can learn to listen to.

As awareness deepens, we may begin noticing information before we've automatically interpreted, labelled or built a story around it.

A sensation. A contraction. Warmth. Movement. Ease. An impulse. Something changing.

There is enormous intelligence in learning to stay with that raw energetic information before rushing to meaning.

This is one of the deeper gifts of body-awareness practice: not simply becoming more aware of the body, but developing a more intimate relationship with the whole organism through which we meet and experience life.

The more present we become, the more there is available to notice and perhaps, beneath all our interpretation, there is a much richer conversation happening all the time.

Practice invitation:
Feel first. Notice. Listen. Then interpret.
